| Build-Up Area | : | - Two more temporary detention centres will be built in Lahad Datu and Tawau in order to curb the rising number of illegal immigrants in the country. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the two additional centres will accommodate another 3,000 illegal immigrants. The detention centres, costing RM50 million are expected to be ready in 18 months. To date, Zahid said a total of 6,299 illegal immigrants were being held at the detention centres. Zahid, who is also the Home Minister was speaking to reporters after chairing the management of illegal immigrants in Sabah committee meeting held today. "Among decisions made are continuous operations to curb the rising number of illegal immigrants, which will be carried out everyday," he said.
